Hefty farm tractors
Hefty was a small tractor manufacturer that was based in the US and operated during the 1970s. It was a Wisconsin based company that was a subsidiary of Holtan Axle and Transmission Company (HAXCO). The company was registered in 1974 but it wasn't until 1978 that it started marketing its tractors. After which, the brand was able to perform considerable well for the next three decades. However, one major factor that contributed to the overall demise of Hefty was the limited availability of options to customers as throughout the years of its operation, it could only provide tractors of 3 different models which were named F, G and LNT. As compared to the models offered by rivals, Hefty tractors were relatively small machines that only had a paltry 27 hp which rendered these machines unable to meet the needs and requirements of most customers. Hefty therefore ceased operations in 2003 after which, spare part availability of the remaining tractors became a big issue and this is why no Hefty tractors are currently in use by local farmers.
