The company was founded in 1945 as Muhammad & Mahindra, but it was later renamed. The giant has currently employed over 2.6 million people and has an estimated total asset value of $23 billion. It began producing tractors in the 1960s and has since delivered more than 2.1 million machines to customers in over 40 countries around the world, earning the company the title of the world's largest tractor manufacturer. The company has received multiple accolades from around the world including Deming Application Prize in 2003, Japan Quality Medal in 2007 and Golden Peacock Award in 2008. The Wall Street Journal awarded Mahindra with the distinction of being one of the 10 leading innovative companies of India. Besides this, the company possesses the highest customer satisfaction index in the world. Customers can presently choose from several tractor series, including Jivo, XP Plus, SP Plus, Yuvo, and Novo. Tractors in each series have varying power outputs, making them suitable for a wide range of applications.
